End-of-Life Pet Care
We want to transform end-of-life care. We made a commitment to your family when you became a part of ours. We would provide your pet with a lifetime of loving care, and now we will guide you through this goodbye, ensuring you feel empowered and supported. But most importantly, we are here for your pet when it matters most—because they deserve the best.

Is It Time?
Knowing when to say goodbye often feels impossible. We are a team of pet lovers and owners; we have experienced the heartache, too. If you are unsure whether it may be time to let go, consider the following questions:
Our loving team will listen to your concerns and carefully examine your furry friend. We will discuss the options available based on your pet's quality of life and comfort.
A Gentle Goodbye
Every pet deserves to pass peacefully and be surrounded by love. We have a special room, separate from our exam rooms, that provides a quiet and peaceful atmosphere for you and your pet. We also have a dedicated exit for you to use, which allows for a more discrete farewell.
Before euthanasia takes place, we invite you to take as much time as you need for final hugs and kisses. Bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal to make them feel most at ease. When you are ready, your veterinarian will give your pet a sedative injection to help them relax and fall into a deep sleep. Once this medication has taken effect, a final injection will be given to help them cross over the rainbow bridge.
Following their passing, we will offer you another private moment with your loved one. Should you need it, Lincoln Hills Veterinary Hospital can assist with aftercare arrangements, including burial or cremation.

Final Thoughts
Though their paws may rest, their presence lingers in our hearts forever.
Here are five things to consider when preparing for a peaceful goodbye:
- Give Yourself Grace—Grief looks different for everyone. Allow yourself to mourn, celebrate their life, and seek support from those who understand the depth of your loss.
- Be Present—You are your pet's home. Speak softly and offer gentle pets; they will find comfort in your closeness.
- Create a Space of Comfort—We encourage you to bring a favorite blanket, toy, or anything that smells like home. You may also choose to play music.
- Honor Their Memory—Consider creating a keepsake, such as a paw print, a framed photo, or a special spot in your home or garden to remember them.
- Consider Prepayment—Our team will discreetly ask for payment at the beginning of the appointment so that you can leave as soon as you're ready.
